Message from the Mr. LAM Wai-keung, Daniel, SBS, BBS, JP Chairman of the Islands District Council

Welcome to the Homepages of the Islands District Council.

The District Council plays an important role in the communication between the Government and the districts. It is an indispensable link between the policy-makers and the public at large. The Council is always ready to act as an intermediary, to help the public understand policies better on one hand, and to channel feedback back to government on the other.

Our district is widely dotted by islands of various sizes.  It is home to many major infrastructures and renowned scenic spots.  If these facilities are well-managed, the local economy as a whole will be directly benefited.  As such, this Council can make its contributions in a way unique and distinct, if we can deliver.

The Islands District Council has spared no effort to improve communication between the government and the districts in the past, and will strive even harder in the months and years to come. We will continue to widely collate proposals of local and territory-wide concerns from all sides, and convey them to the government as part of the endeavours we have been making all along.

The government has entrusted district councils with more responsibilities and duties, and we thus enjoy greater autonomy in managing our facilities. This Council will seek to work closely with residents and various organizations to make better use of resources available, so that the Islands District will be a nicer place for all who live, work or choose to spend their holidays in it.

Mr. LAM Wai-keung, Daniel, SBS, BBS, JP
Chairman of Islands District Council
