The new term of the Council has already come into operation.  Starting from 2008, the Government has implemented the policy of enhancing district administration in the 18 districts, the role and functions of the Council are enhanced which includes the participation in the management of designated district facilities.  Additional resources are allocated to the Council to initiate and implement District Minor Works (DMW) projects aiming at providing a desirable living environment for local residents.  The Council is ready to take on the new role and would continue to strive for the betterment of our work in the future.

In addition, working groups are formed under the Council and various committees to organize activity programmes to promote and enhance environmental protection and care for the community, sense of belonging of local residents and community involvement. The Council will also carry out minor works to improve the environment. Through the “Meet-the-Public” Scheme, residents can make appointment to meet the Council members to express their opinions or seek assistance.
