Welcome Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the web page of the Yuen Long District Council (YLDC).  Here you will find information related to the Council's members, its operation and district highlights.

Since its inception in 1981, the membership of YLDC has increased from 29 to 42, comprising 29 elected members, 7 appointed members and 6 ex-officio members who are Chairmen of the Rural Committees.  The Chairman and Vice-chairman of YLDC are elected amongst its members.

There are 6 committees under YLDC, namely the District Facilities Management Committee, the Culture, Recreation, Community Service and Housing Committee, the Environmental Improvement Committee, the Finance Committee, the Town Planning and Development Committee and the Traffic and Transport Committee.  These committees act as a bridge between the Government and the Yuen Long community by advising the Government of local concerns and giving their views on district issues.  

In pursuit of the objective of strengthening district administration, YLDC will continue to work closely with government departments and make the best endeavor to ensure adequate provision of public services and facilities to better meet the aspirations of the local community.
