Welcome Message by

Mr. CHUNG Kong-mo, Chairman of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council

Welcome to the homepage of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC).

The third YTMDC consists of 20 members and its term runs from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2011.  The YTMDC and councillors continue to bridge the link between the government and members of the public, so that local residents are aware of the government policy objectives while public views are communicated to the authority.  With a concerted effort, we strive to build a better community in the Yau Tsim Mong District.

Under the current YTMDC, five committees are established to look into district facilities management, community building, traffic and transport, food and environmental hygiene as well as housing issues.  In addition, various working groups are formed with the appointment of local personalities as co-opted members, to advise the government on livelihood matters through regular meetings.  The YTMDC allocate funds for upgrading district cultural/recreational facilities and implementing environmental improvement projects.  Local organisations and building corporations receive financial subsidies for hosting community-building activities to foster social harmony.

Tasked with the additional function of district facilities management, the current district councils and their members are open to public aspirations on their performance.  Our homepage helps you to put the work of the YTMDC into perspective.  You can check the dates, agenda, minutes, audio-recordings of and members’ attendance at the meetings of the YTMDC and its committees.  You can keep abreast of the latest development of current issues and monitor the meeting proceedings and performance of individual members.  Comments on local affairs may be channeled to the YTMDC on-line or to individual councillors through direct contact with them.  Their contact information is available for public access on our homepage.

Please feel free to give us your valuable opinions to facilitate a prompt response from the Administration and district councillors regarding local affairs and issues.  Let us do our best to serve the Yau Tsim Mong District.

Mr. CHUNG Kong-mo

Chairman of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council
