Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries, Environmental Hygiene and Climate Change Committee
- To assist in promoting the development of agriculture and fisheries, industry and commerce, and tourism in the district, and to provide advice and suggestions on matters related to tourist facilities, agriculture and fisheries (including animal policy), industry and commerce, and tourism as well as tackling of extreme weather conditions and climate change (e.g. natural disaster mitigation and energy saving measures) in the district.
- To discuss environmental hygiene issues in the district (including environmental hygiene facilities and services, and food hygiene, etc.) and propose improvements; and to provide advice and suggestions on plans to improve the environment in the district.
- To provide advice and suggestions on works projects in the district proposed by the government (such as drainage and water works, etc.), and matters related to environmental protection and heritage conservation in the district.
- To assist the District Council in vetting funding applications for promotional activities in tourism, agriculture and fisheries, industry and commerce, and environmental hygiene, as well as tackling of extreme weather conditions and climate change (e.g. precautions against natural disasters and promotion of renewable energy) and to recommend the amount of funds and their priorities; and to vet funding applications within its delegated authority.
- To advise and set priorities on the use of the District Council’s District Minor Works funds to carry out works projects to improve environment in the district, which do not fall within the ambit of the District Facilities Management Committee, and monitor progress of these projects; and to vet funding applications within its delegated authority.
- To organise, co-organise, promote and co-ordinate activities in agriculture and fisheries, industry and commerce, tourism and environmental hygiene as well as tackling of extreme weather conditions and climate change (e.g. precautions against natural disasters and promotion of renewable energy) in the district.
- To submit work report to the District Council regularly for members’ scrutiny and reference.
- To set up working group where necessary to follow up activities and projects proposed by the Committee.
