Meet the Public Scheme
Meet-the-Public Scheme of Southern District Council
“Meet-the-Public Scheme” (“the Scheme”) of the Southern District Council was introduced in 1982. The Scheme aims at strengthening the communication between the Council and residents in the district, as well as providing a channel for the public to seek help from District Council Members. At the early implementation stage of the Scheme, District Council Members met the public regularly on a rotational basis.
To utilize resources more effectively and with a view to enhancing the flexibility of the Scheme, a streamlined approach has been adopted to replace the regular meeting sessions since January 1997. Through the face-to-face discussion, District Council Members are able to have better understanding of the problems and needs of the residents, and help them to improve the quality of life by providing assistance in solving their problems. Residents’ views are reflected to the Government appropriately, so that appropriate effective follow-up actions against the relevant issues can be taken.
At present, residents who wish to meet the District Council Members can contact them directly. Alternatively, arrangement can also be made through the Southern District Council Secretariat or the Southern District Office:
