Signature Project Scheme in Sha Tin District

IV. Signature Project Scheme in Sha Tin District

Introduction
To strengthen district administration, the Government has launched the Signature Project Scheme (SPS) and earmarked a one-off allocation of $100 million for each district. The objective of the SPS is to provide District Councils with a larger amount of resources for implementing one or two large-scale and sustainable projects to address the specific needs of their districts.

Further information on the background of the SPS is available on relevant web pages of the Home Affairs Department. (ENTER)

SPS Projects in Sha Tin District
Two SPS projects, namely Decking of Tai Wai Nullah in Sha Tin and Revitalisation of Shing Mun River Promenade near Sha Tin Town Centre, have been drawn up by the Sha Tin District Council (STDC) for the purpose of conducting further detailed design.

Decking of Tai Wai Nullah in Sha Tin

Revitalisation of Shing Mun River Promenade near Sha Tin Town Centre

Tai Wai Nullah is the channelised upstream of Shing Mun River with a width of about 39 metres. As water flow is limited for most of the time, the concrete nullah bed is exposed. The vision of the project of decking Tai Wai Nullah in Sha Tin is creation of space to support the sustainable development of the community. Shing Mun River has all along been a popular venue for Sha Tin residents to pursue leisure and recreational activities. The vision of the project of revitalising Shing Mun River promenade is to give the town centre a face-lift.
